Vice Italy asked me to do a mix for their friday mixtapes serie. I strongly asked to publish it today, Friday 21st, 2012, the end of Mayan 13th baktun.I’ve recorded this mix in two separate sessions. Javier Estrada’s Guerrero Azteca is the turning point between the two. The mix starts with Chris Watson’s El Tren Fantasma, a journey across the heart of Mexico, and ends with Nuestra Raiz by Clap Pina, a Tribal Prehispanico hit. The rest is more or less a cue of what I’ve been into recently (some are my best picks for 2012), different directions and genres, stuff that I like but I didn’t have the chance to play in a live set. I’ve also plugged an analog delay – especially in the second, dub influenced part.

I’ve also uploaded a short video I did this summer in Chichen Itza, Yucatan, showing the liquid delay effect you have in front of El Castillo… Apparently Mayans’ sites were designed to chirp like a bird. I also suggest you to make a virtual tour of the site through Google Street View and check out what is happening right now over there.

Last: tomorrow night I’ll be djing in Vittorio Veneto at Codalunga, find out more here.
